CIMA students in Sri Lanka were amongst the best performing students globally at the case study exams held in February.
Suvedha Amendran and Chalani Wedage, placed second and eighth respectively at the Management Case Study exam; and Thasmila Rathnayake, placed ninth at the Operational Case Study exam, are the commendees at the February exams.
The success of these students and the recent increase in pass rates locally, have facilitated Sri Lankan students to regain their high performing trend at the CIMA exams.
Speaking on their success and the factors that helped them achieve these ratings whilst crediting their exam success to the lecturers at their respective institutes, the students state that they found CIMA’s online study support platforms LearnCIMA, CIMAStudy and CIMAconnect, in addition to the mock exams, particularly helpful.
Chalini elaborates: “I used LearnCIMA in addition to my classes. The mock exams and podcasts on LearnCIMA forum were helpful when facing the actual exam. The blogs on CIMAconnect helped me prepare for the exam.”
Suvedha states: “I self-studied using the materials on CIMAconnect, CIMAStudy and Astranti mock exams.” Thasmila also emphasises: “Reading the recommended text materials and doing all the past papers systematically contributed to my achievement.”
Commenting on these successes, Radley Stephen (Country Head – Sri Lanka, CIMA) says, “Sri Lankan students have always impressed at our exams and it comes at no surprise to see three commendees from Sri Lanka and whilst congratulating them, look forward to them bringing further glory to Sri Lanka as they progress with their studies.”
CIMA’s robust assessment methods incorporate real-life skills and competencies that are sought by employers. Employability is a key feature of the syllabus, with the assessments demonstrating to employers that students have both theoretical and practical understanding.
The CIMA syllabus focuses on core accounting skills, ‘Big Data’, sustainability, integrated thinking and finance function transformation. CIMA students and members are qualified to drive business success in any organisation, not only in finance.
