Opening a new chapter in Sri Lankan higher education, the National School of Business Management (NSBM) will commence operations of its Green University very soon, in October. It is geared to develop the young generation of Sri Lanka to become globally accepted leaders, creating a better future. The NSBM Green University, spread out in 26 acres of land, is designed to cater to almost 30,000 students. It boasts of top-notch academic facilities, a library housing over one million books, independent study areas, a state-of-theart auditorium, amenities for health and recreation, including playgrounds, fully equipped gymnasia and swimming pool, and accommodation facilities, modelled after those in prestigious European universities, among others. Moving beyond the components of a traditional university, NSBM Green University Town will consist of in-house super markets, banking facilities, business centres, etc. that will add to the learning experience of the students.
This eco-friendly university experience will greatly contribute to the national economy by expanding the opportunities for school leavers who are not eligible for state university entrance to study for a degree that concurs with the market requirements for employment. The varied and internationally accredited degree programmes offered at NSBM are a favourable alternative to the large number of students who opt for universities overseas, thereby retaining much of the foreign exchange that is drained out of the country annually. The School of Business at NSBM offers a variety of course options, ranging from HR Management, Logistics, Project Management to Marketing, Accounting, Tourism and Hospitality Management and much more. The School of Computing offers programs in Software Engineering, Computer Networks, Computer Security, Management of Information Systems etc. The Design School will let you pursue Interior Design, or Creative Multimedia programs.
The School of Engineering, currently at the planning stage, has an offer of an extensive selection of programs as well. NSBM is currently affiliated with University College Dublin, Ireland, which is regarded as one of the best universities in Europe, Limkokwing University, Malaysia, which was awarded the prestigious Malaysia’s University of Innovation in 2012 by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia and University of Plymouth – one of the top 40 universities in the UK.
More affiliations and new programmes are coming up at the Green University. This year’s EDEX Mid-Year expo is to be held through 3 and 4 September, at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) For further details please get in touch with the officials at EDEX Secretariat, RCU Skills Centre, Royal College Union, Rajakeeya Mawatha, Colombo 7 or you could also call 01124 327 070, email sales@edex. lk or visit www.edex.lk for more information.
