The Management & Science University and Browns Healthcare Ltd. recently entered into an agreement which will further enhance the university’s strategic partnerships with the industry.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) involves training and sharing of industry expertise involving the paramedical and biomedical students of MSU.
Being a Five Star QS Rated university and one of Malaysia’s best, MSU has entrenched itself as a university which is concerned with providing students with a compelling learning experience in order to generate quality graduates. Browns on the other hand is one of the most pioneering and diversified business conglomerate in Sri Lanka with an industry presence of over 140 years.
Currently, MSU/MSI’s students are undergoing training in paramedical courses with plans to extend the training to laboratory and biomedical science.
Speaking during the event, MSU’s President Prof. Dr. Shukri touched on the importance of 21st century education. He emphasised that MSU has successfully developed an industry embedded curriculum which generates graduates who excel in academics and are armed with strong interpersonal skills. Prof. Shukri stated that in order to develop human capital, people must have communicative and creative minds. He opined that meaningful change could be brought about through education with a focus on developing holistic students.
A range of 150 programs in technical and vocational subjects and also postgraduate programs are being offered by MSU through MSI. The university focuses on the Global Leadership Programme (GLP) and Global Mobility Programme (GMP) as a way forward to ensure students possess a global mindset. Reinforcing this is the empowerment of its graduates with employability and entrepreneurship skills. MSU has twice been the recipient of the ‘Excellent Status’ university, a rating initiated by the Higher Education Ministry of Malaysia.
As a university which focuses on specialised and industry relevant programs, MSU focuses on medicine, health sciences, pharmacy, information sciences and engineering, business management and professional studies, education and social sciences and hospitality.
Prof. Dr. Shukri and Browns Healthcare Ltd. CEO Dr. K.T. Iraivan were present to formalise the MoU.
