Guru.lk (www.guru. lk), Sri Lanka’s leading provider of online study courses in multiple disciplines, has reported a milestone in the sale of study packs for banking examinations conducted by the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL). The company said the sale of subject courses for the Intermediate in Applied Banking and Finance (IABF) and Diploma in Applied Banking and Finance (DABF) examinations had surpassed 5,000 in the past 18 months, underlining the popularity of it offering for banking students. Guru.lk is the accredited Online Learning Centre for IBSL examinations in Sri Lanka. Guru.lk’s study packs for students sitting these examinations are available online as well as on DVD in Sinhala, and cover the full syllabus.
They also contain model questions and answers for each section and entitle students who purchase them to participate in a webinar on each subject, conducted by a leading luminary from the banking sector, close to the examination date. Costing less than a third of a student’s outlay on physically following a class, these online study packs also cater to midcareer students who may be hard-pressed to find time to attend classes as well as students in areas where classes may be unavailable, the company said. “We are delighted with the success of our products for banking students,” said Hasitha Dela, CEO of Headstart Ltd., the owner of Guru.lk. “Their popularity can be attributed to the phenomenal pass rates already achieved by students who used them, the convenience of online study and the affordability of our study packs.”
Anjana Jayasinghe, a Bank officer from Haputale commented: “As a student who has not done Commerce subjects for the A/L examination and has limited access to classes, I find the banking study pack to be of immeasurable value as it helped me to get through the banking exams.” An impressive 82% of users of Guru.lk study packs who sat the IABF examination in September last year passed the examination, achieving a pass rate well above the average for students that sit for the examination. The product is valid for six months from the date of purchase, but comes with a guarantee – if a student is unable to pass the examination, access to the online study content will be extended for another six months.
Guru.lk has more than 100 E Learning courses ranging from courses linked to the school curriculum to professional education, and edutainment content including IT courses, Beauty Culture and even cooking and singing. The owning company Headstart (formerly Felidae) powers many e-learning initiates of telecom companies, private sector and Government initiatives including the Sipnena-guru schools programme where content is provided free of charge to school IT labs.
