One of the hardest tasks for school leavers is to get to grips with the way university differs from school. Like anything in life, preparation will help in dealing with the numerous changes and challenges that they will face at university. With this in mind, EDULINK International Campus will hold an informative and interactive seminar titled ‘School 2 Uni’ on 25 July from 9:30 a.m. onwards.
The seminar will highlight some of the additional skills one has to attain that would help enjoy a smooth transition from school to university. It will also expose students to an experience of campus life for a day. The event is targeted at those who have just completed their London A/L’s and are on pending results. In addition, a keynote presentation will be held on the topic of ‘Innovation and Strategy’.
Helping map an important journey: Providing all the comprehensive information needed about transiting from school to university, the seminar will include presentations on social and other key aspects of transition and focus on guiding students on the challenges they face in the early weeks of university such as registration, induction and building relationships with their peers/tutors.
Additionally, this informative and participative seminar is aimed to help students explore the challenges they experience as they consider a possible transition from A/Levels to Higher Education. It will immerse students in a campus learning experience and draw on innovative methods, on the development of leadership skills and resilience in transition.
Students can bring along their certificates and be eligible for scholarships, based on their O/Level results. A series of strategy games would also be conducted where students can win prizes.
EDULINK International Campus Director Kanishka Weeramunda explained, “Transition from secondary schooling to further education can be a daunting yet exciting experience. School support and peer groups may change, and there is often a greater responsibility for making decisions such as choosing a course to study, selecting the right educational institution, how to organise time effectively, managing study/work/social lives, coping with a significantly different learning environment and generally making the transition from school to further education. The aim of this seminar therefore, is to inculcate into these students how to have the ability to develop social networks, academic skills and self-confidence that we believe will ease their transition into university life.”
Having always had the best interest of the younger generation at heart and having paved the way for many interesting events to bring out the talents of school leavers as well as guiding them to achieve their best, EDULINK becomes the first private education institute to hold a seminar of this nature, that will in turn provide a valuable guideline for students in stepping into an important phase in their lives.
