Advanced Levels completed, a three-month wait for results, the uncertainty of results and the numerous higher education options make it a challenge for parents and students to decide what’s next in terms of enhancing knowledge and building lucrative careers. It is also extremely important to understand market recognition, the skills and competencies students acquire from pursuing a course of study. Over the years CIMA has provided a highly tangible solution to this issue, through its Certificate in Business Accounting (CertBA).

This provides students with an excellent grounding in the fundamentals of management and it is a no brainer, this highly-recognised learning and training in management could be applied in any industry or profession one aspires to operate in the future. Whilst the Cert BA is recognised by employers and provides an ideal foundation for those aspiring to specialise in other academic of professional studies, it is also CIMA’s entry level qualification which offers a route to the CIMA Professional Qualification. CIMA’s assessments demonstrate that students have both the relevant theoretical and practical grasp to employers. Exams can be taken at students’ own pace, all around the year in any of the computer based assessment centres located in the country. One o f CIMA’s key strengths is the fact that its syllabus focuses on employability, underpinned by the CGMA Competency Framework which focuses on people, business, technical and leadership skills.

CIMA students thereby become qualified to work in any organisation, making the decisions for strategic success – it is a truly versatile qualification. With its global recognition, CIMA offers the opportunity to be employed in any chosen part of the world. CIMA members have high visibility in senior management positions in Sri Lanka’s industry, commerce and business fraternity, with large numbers of CIMA members from the country residing overseas. With its joint venture partner the American Institute of Chartered P u bl i c A c c o u n t a n t s (AICPA), CIMA has introduced the CGMA designation (Chartered Global Management Accountant) – which recognises professionals who meet the highest benchmark of quality, competency and integrity.
