A public lecture on principles and practices of Islamic Insurance was held at Asia Pacific Institution of Information Technology (APIIT) Sri Lanka on 20 August, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The lecture was conducted by Dr. Marhanum Che Mohd Salleh, part of APIIT foreign faculty for MSc in Islamic Finance and Accounting. She is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Finance, Int e r n at i o n a l I s l a m i c University Malaysia (IIUM). She is also member of Shariah Advisory Body of Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd (STMB) and United Overseas Bank Islamic Malaysia (UOBM). The public lecture provided an insight into the principles and practices applied in Islamic Insurance, followed by the challenges and the best practices of Malaysia. APIIT is the first Sri Lankan higher education provider to offer MSc in Islamic Banking and Finance in the country. MSc in Islamic Finance and Accounting offers an advanced programme of study in Islamic finance and Accounting, which aims to prepare individuals who are seeking a career in finance/business with Islamic Finance and Accounting knowledge and skills.
