Government of India has decided to provide opportunities for admission of meritorious Sri Lankan students to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (II Ts) in India, from the 2017-18 academic sessions onwards. In this regard, a delegation of faculty members from IITs will visit Sri Lanka in the first week of September 2016 to interact with students and parents of GCE A/Level students, and final and pre-final year engineering students, regarding IIT entrance examinations, life in the IITs and future prospects.
During the meeting, information will be provided on Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for Undergraduate Engineering Courses and the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for Post Graduate Courses in IITs, for the academic session 2017-18. Students from Sri Lanka can appear for JEE and GATE examinations in Sri Lanka, on the same day and time, like aspirants in India. An event in Colombo to familiarise Sri Lankan students with IIT admissions will be held on Monday, 5 September at the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), located at 16/2, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 07. Students and parents interested in participating in this program may pre-register with High Commission of India at iccrcolombo@ gmail.com/hcicolombo. [email protected] to obtain their slot for the interaction with IIT professors. Pre-registration will be on first come first served basis and will close by the forenoon of 2 September. An event in Jaffna will be organised on Wednesday, 7 September by Consulate General of India, Jaffna.
