Horizon Campus recently signed an MoU with the University of Moratuwa to offer the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) offered by the UoM at its regional centres in Kandy, Kurunegala, Kalutara and Matara. The other four regional centres namely in Negombo, Anuradhapura, Ratnapura and Badulla have also been reviewed by the University of Moratuwa and is to get approval shortly.
The MoU was signed by UoM Vice Chancellor Prof. K.K.C.K. Perera and Horizon Campus Chairman Upul Daranagama.
The aim of this MoU is to build scientific and technical knowledge of students in these regions and equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to enable them to compete successfully in the fast evolving and dynamic IT industry and build successful careers.
Upul Daranagama said, “I am very happy to sign this agreement and look forward to work closely with University of Moratuwa to provide students to chance study for this comprehensive IT degree that will give them a host of opportunities in the field of IT. I am confident that this will benefit many talented students across the country.”
The event was attended by the staff of the faculty of IT and CODL, UoM and staff of Horizon Campus.
Horizon Campus was established in the year 2009 with the vision to impart quality education for all students across the country. Horizon Campus currently provides higher education opportunities in IT at affordable rates for a large segment of youth from all walks of life. They offer Bachelor of Science Honours in Information Technology and Bachelor of Information Technology Honours in Networking and Mobile Computing degree programs through their well-equipped IT labs, backed by a well experienced lecturer panel.
This MOU signifies yet another initiative of Horizon campus to reach out and offer IT education and career opportunities for talented youth in all the regions of the country.
