The British Council has taken further steps to enhance IELTS delivery sessions to its candidates taking the exams in Kandy, offering maximum flexibility and convenience with the introduction of computer-delivered IELTS.

Computer-delivered IELTS will not replace paper based IELTS but rather offer a choice in delivery and more availability. Test takers can now choose the time and option that works best for them. They also get their results faster, typically available between five to seven working days after the test has been completed.

The computer-delivered solution is secure and capable of delivering the world-leading security, quality assurance measures and operational benefits that IELTS is renowned for.

IELTS is among the world’s most popular high-stakes English language tests, with over three million taken during the past year. The test is recognised by more than 10,000 universities, schools, employers and immigration bodies.

The paper-based and computer-delivered tests both adhere to the security, trust and integrity of the British Council’s approach in delivering IELTS. The test content, timing and structure remain the same and importantly the Speaking test remains face to face with a certified IELTS examiner. Whether IELTS tests are taken on paper or via computer, candidates can be confident that they are taking the same trusted English language test. Commenting on the enhanced flexibility and convenience offered, British Council Country Exams Director Rob Low said, “We are continually enhancing IELTS to improve the experience for our test takers and stakeholders and as such we are delighted to be providing a broader choice in delivery and availability with computer delivered IELTS. Over 10,000 organisations trust and accept IELTS as a secure, valid and reliable indicator of true to life ability to communicate in English for education, immigration and professional accreditation purposes. Through IELTS, we are opening doors to these life changing opportunities for millions of aspiring people around the world.” As UK’s premier international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, the British Council focuses on all aspects of English language learning, helping candidates prove their ability and make the most of their future prospects.
