Volkswagen vehicle assembly plant kicks off in Wayamba

The ground-breaking ceremony for the much talked about Volkswagen vehicle assembly plant was held yesterday in Kuliyapitiya under the patronage of both President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and a number of other dignitaries in attendance. With an investment of $ 26.5 million the facility is to be completed by 2019 and will commence assembling vehicles in the 1000 cc to 2000 cc category.
