The ICC World Twenty20 Sri Lanka 2012 trophies toured the city of Galle, in true twenty20 flare as large crowds gathered along the streets for a firsthand look at the coveted awards. The trophies were paraded in the host city for the women’s group matches, in a traditional Sri Lankan ‘Perahara’ or parade with elephants, dancers, drummers and other entertaining attractions.
The trophy was received on behalf of Galle by the first test cricketer from Galle and Sri Lanka Cricket Committee member Jayananda Warnaweera at the Samanala Grounds, which then staged a day of exciting activities including specially designed Twenty20 games, face painting and ICC World Twenty20 ticket promotions.
