It was a night of splendor and glamour as the Galadari Hotel’s General Manager Sampath Siriwardena hosted cocktails on 6 January to celebrate the opening of the hotel’s splendid Grand Ballroom. As the invited guests dazzled in their elegant outfits, the hotel hosted one of the best cocktail events in Colombo. The ballroom was simply breathtaking, the lighting, carpeting and antique mirrors as well as the foyer and sitting areas were a well-balanced mix of modern and antique style. The talk of the town was the magnificent cocktail spread that was laid out for guests. This was a first and one-of-a-kind ever to be given and one that all will remember. The spread was fit for a king, cold finger foods, tapas, sushi, chilled seafood to live cooking specials the list was endless. Duck, rabbit, fish, steak, goat to seafood…you name it they had it. The decadent sweet corner was to die for. From tiramisu, puddings, cakes and gateaux, cheese, nuts and elaborate fresh fruits including strawberries, blackberries, raspberries to kiwi fruit it was simply sensational.
