The AmCham-FedEx Golf Tournament 2017 was held on Saturday 30 September at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).
The first tee-off was at the break of dawn at 6 a.m. and the last four-ball came back to the Club House at 5:30 p.m. The course in immaculate condition encouraged high scoring with the overall best score of the day of 47 points, coming from Farzan Sikkander, winning a night’s stay for two at Shangri-La’s Hambantota Resort & Spa in addition to the handsome trophy.
The RCGC Club Champion Shamal Perera confirmed his place at the top of the Club Amateurs by a Gross Score of 33 points to be the overall Gross Winner.
In the AmCham Members Category Shamal Perera was the winner, pushing Sajith Gamage to the Runner-Up position.
Louise Parson won the best score for the Ladies with 42 points edging out Sharon Hall who scored 36 points. The consistent Hall also won the Longest and Most Accurate Drive and Nearest to The Pin on the 9th Hole while Nilkamal Perera was the Longest and Most Accurate Drive in the men’s challenge.
An array of prizes were distributed for many categories and the A Division was won by Shamal Perera. In addition to being crowned the overall winner, Farzan Sikkander also won the C Division with a score of 47 points. B.M.R. Preena won the Masters Division and Prasanna Goonethillke won the Seniors Division with each scoring 43 points.
As was in the past, part proceeds from the Golf Tournament will go towards a selected charity of Royal Colombo Golf Club.

Over the past 17 years the funds raised from the tournament has helped and supported different charitable projects.
