The team of Heritage Expediciones Ltd. engaged in a beach cleanup sustainability activity along the west coast of Sri Lanka (Dharmarama Road in Ratmalana) on 4 October.
Commenting on the experience, a team member said: “This was an awesome experience for our team. It was our first attempt on the costal belt and we covered nearly a kilometre. Public Health Inspector of the Dehiwala/Mount Lavinia Municipality Shehan Rajapaksha was a huge strength to us.
“At the first point of meeting him during the inspection he was very keen to understand the mission of our clean up. We indicated to him that we were involved in inbound tourism and working towards a goal of becoming a sustainable tour operator. The location he offered us was very badly littered, nevertheless we took up the challenge to clean it. At the end we looked back at this blissful beach which was a hive of pollution a few hours before!
“The management was very supportive of our efforts and joined us from the start to the end. Travelife in Sri Lanka Country Manager Ajantha Palihawadana overlooked the proceedings. We look forward to participate in many more events to support sustainability in the future.”
