The Colombo School of Arts offers holistic education to students in Sri Lanka

Affiliated with the Imperial Institute of Higher Education (IIHA), Sri Lanka’s only institute that is directly associated with the prestigious University of Wales (UK) to offer BSc (Hons) Degree in Business Management and MBA, The Colombo School of Arts (CSA) is a newly-established international school that focuses and specialises exclusively on the senior school study program, and offer a comprehensive educational experience to those who are 14 years of age and above. Backed by a team of top academics and experienced teachers committed to delivering the very best of the Cambridge curriculum, CSA will focus on a holistic approach that provides a stimulating curriculum which promotes each students learning, personal growth and development. Outlining their teaching methodologies, CSA Principal Shaleeka Jayalath stated: “We believe academic disciplines should be cultivated and refined side by side with creativity, responsibility, and self-esteem. Therefore whilst we strive to make sure our students are academically prepared to meet each new level of educational challenge with confidence, they will also be nurtured as uniquely talented individuals to achieve the best of their abilities in terms of their intellectual, creative, physical and emotional capabilities. We will help them develop as independent lifelong learners, creative risk-takers and innovators,  leaders and team-players, as well as confident individuals who set themselves challenging personal and professional life goals as well as have good values, integrity, ethics, and a sense of responsibility. Therefore key parts of our agenda include activities such as debates, drama, public speaking, arts and sports.” She further outlined another unique aspect of the school by saying: “We arrange for our students short internship programs with top companies during their final year so they have a real feel of the working environment. These internships will allow students to see whether or not a particular career fits with their passion and interest. It can also lead to a greater understanding of their chosen field and assist with the development of skills marketable for their career path.” Speaking of the facilities that student will enjoy, Abeygunasekera said that CSA will have air conditioned classrooms and a well-resourced library with a wide range of reference works, subject books and other publications relevant to the advancement of education and knowledge backed by a vast collection of resources.  The multi-media room of the library also has a comprehensive collection of DVDs and CDs on current affairs, with projectors and screens. It also has computers with internet access for reference and research. The computer labs are equipped with state-of-the-art computer and multi-media facilities and internet access.
