The Kingsbury embarked on a journey to romance the season last December and ended the festivities on a high note with the many parties and dinners that it hosted on New Year’s Eve. The Kingsbury not only romanced the season, but also ventured on a gastronomic expedition that satisfied many a palate during the festive season. Right from the start on St. Nicholas Day on 6 December, up until 31st night with dinners at Harbour Court, Yue Chuan, The Ocean Restaurant and special event parties at the Sky Lounge, The Balmoral, Poolside and The Winschester, the hotel provided unmatched entertainment and ambience to indulge its discerning guests. The Harbour Court hosted a dinner buffet just across the splendour of the star spangled skies above the ocean, enabling its guests to reminisce. The Ocean and Yue Chuan too joined in bringing the year to a close with their festive set menu options adding flavour to the night. At midnight the skies lit up with fire crackers to herald the New Year. Dinner guests enjoyed scrumptious meals of all sorts that were prepared with special care to titillate their taste buds as they sat across the ocean at the close of 2013. The Kingsbury also hosted four parties on New Year Eve; each one catering to a unique group of audience and their entertainment interests. The Kingsbury Ball at The Balmoral was a truly elegant and regal affair capturing the resplendence of the bygone days, whilst ‘New Year’s Eve in the Sky’ at the Sky Lounge was a suave event fit for cosmopolitan connoisseurs. The Balmoral housed the band ‘Wild Fire’ along with other popular DJs spinning tunes into the night that set many feet tapping away. The night proved what it meant to be part of a ‘getting dancing shoes on and letting the hair down’ experience. The Kingsbury Ball also consisted of a gala dinner banquet in authentic royalty style. Celebrations continued until breakfast time. At the same time, the soirée at the Sky Lounge was an extravagant and elegant celebration with a free flow of Champagne and an assortment of delectable Canapés, served against the backdrop of a brilliantly lit sky. It was indeed a breathtaking view up from the pinnacle of the Sky Lounge, to look down on the city of Colombo as the year drew to a close. The Kingsbury seemed to have given a truly ‘top of the world’ experience to its guests aboard that night. Additionally the party by the Poolside was catered to those who enjoyed reclining beneath wide open skies, with an aptitude for relaxation. Here guests were encouraged to unwind by the poolside along with international DJs playing to ignite the night. On the other hand, the party at The Winchester was a grand affair with elaborately chic decor to set the mood for a truly memorable night and music spun by yet another internationally acclaimed DJ. The Kingsbury has already begun planning the next New Year’s celebration in order to be able to offer its patrons an unparalleled, novel festive experience every single year. The Kingsbury staff extends its warmest greetings to its patrons and wishes them a prosperous and bright 2014, as it looks forward to many memorable moments together with them!
