Nations Trust Bank, American Express Cards sponsors Sri Lankan Art 2012

Nations Trust Bank, American Express Cards in an endeavour to support local art and artists stepped forward to sponsor this year’s Exhibition of Sri Lankan Art by joining hands with the George Keyt Foundation. Sri Lankan Art 2012 featured the most recent work done by over 70 of Sri Lanka’s best artists, sculptors and painters. The exhibition commenced on 27 November 2012 at the J.D.A. Perera Galleries, University of Visual and Performing Arts, No. 46, Horton Place Colombo 7.



The opening ceremony and preview of the exhibition was held on 26 November 2012 at 6 p.m. at the J.D.A. Perera Galleries and was well attended, with Dr. Lester James Peries and Sumithra Peries attending as the Chief Guests for the evening.  The gathering included the board of trustees of the George Keyt Foundation as well as the CEO of Nations Trust Bank PLC Renuka Fernando.

Renuka Fernando, CEO Nations Trust Bank PLC, speaking at the opening ceremony stated, “This is the second year in which the bank has partnered with the George Keyt Foundation and it is a partnership and association which we at Nations Trust Bank are very glad to be a part of. I would like to commend the Foundation for its remarkable services to Sri Lanka, by providing opportunities for the development of Sri Lankan art and Sri Lankan artists.”  The George Keyt Foundation has in the past 20 years, made a major contribution to promote local art and local artists, by organising and presenting over 77 exhibitions and presentations. The most notable has been the annual Kala Pola, which has been organised annually from 1993 to date.

Nations Trust Bank, American Express Cards , has in the recent past sponsored several events for varying interest groups, such as wildlife photographers, music enthusiasts both Western and Eastern, and this latest partnership with Sri Lankan Art 2012, has provided the bank the opportunity to  promote contemporary Sri Lankan art.
