Hiru TV lines up top films for Avurudu

Hiru TV has lined up several top movies for viewers entertainment during the Avurudhu.

On Friday 12 April at 10.00 pm the Sinhala movie “Deevari” (Fisherman’s Daughter) will be telecast. Set in the 1970’s, Dheevari  is a subtle portrayal of the harsh realities of life in a fishing village in Sri Lanka.

 

This compelling film depicts the struggle of a determined young woman to overcome superstition, the ravaging sea and the iniquities of a traditional feudal system, all of which trap her community in a cycle of constant poverty.  Directed by Salinda Perera, Dheevari’s cast include Sangeetha Weeraratne, Joe Abeywickrema, Cyril Wickramage, Trilicia Gunewardena, Jackson Anthony, Veena Jayakody, Roger Seneviratne, Wajira Liyanage.

On Saturday at 12 noon Sinhala movie “Maaya” will be shown. This film is directed and produced by Mrs. Sumithra Peries whilst music is by Premasiri Kemadasa. Raveendra Randeniya, Swarna Mallawaarachchi, Dimuthu Chandani Kuruppu, Tony Ranasinghe, Geetha Kumarasinghe, Sanath Gunathilake star in Maaya. On 14 Sunday 12 noon Hiru TV will telecast Hindi blockbuster “Jab Tak Hain Jaan” with Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in lead roles.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a 2012 Indian romantic drama film directed by Yash Chopra and written and produced by Aditya Chopra. Music is by  A.R. Rahman. The storyline of the movie is after finding and losing his true love in London, Samar Anand defies death by becoming a bomb disposal expert for the Indian Army. Returning to London after 10 years, he suffers amnesia after an accident. Will he be reunited with his love?
