Hiru Golden Film Awards 2014 on 25 October

From Sri Lanka’s first high definition television station Hiru TV of the Asia Broadcasting Corporation comes yet another first of its kind: Hiru Golden Film Awards 2014, a star studded event with the participation of local and international movie stars which guarantees to bring back the glint of gold to Sri Lankan cinema. This prestigious gold carpet occasion will unfold on 25 October in grandeur at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium from 6:30 p.m. onwards. The event will focus on Sinhala movies screened in 2012 and 2013 for awards to the best in all cinematic categories through a full-proof system to select the most popular actor, actress and film in a transparent manner as seen on ‘The Road to the Film Festival’ special program being telecasted on Hiru TV every Sunday at 3:30 p.m. In addition, more than 100 short films made in 2012 and 2013 will also be considered for the best short films award. The festival will have 40 awards on offer in addition to lifetime achievement awards for outstanding contributions to cinema and much more. The Hiru Golden Film Awards 2014 will be graced by the presence of not just local stars alone but also by Bollywood heartthrobs such as the world famous Indian film super stars; actor and producer who has appeared in Bollywood and international films Anil Kapoor; actor, producer and entrepreneur Sunil Shetty; the gorgeous Indian actress diva Bipasha Basu; Bollywood lover boy Vivek Oberoi; and the voice behind many hit movie songs Indian playback singer Alka Yagnik, who are due to  be performing acts with local movie stars and individually alike. With an event of such splendor and glamour gifted to the people of the island nation for the first time, it is inevitable and undeniable that the Asia Broadcasting Corporation will yet again be creating history while setting the Sri Lankan entertainment benchmark ever higher in their endeavors.
