Flame will be performing live in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney for the third consecutive year; the band has been attracting record numbers and gaining fame amongst the fellow Australian community over the past years. “Whilst we miss the Valentine’s celebrations in Colombo, I must admit that the team really looks forward to the Aussie tour as the feeling is great and we love the warmth and hospitality shown by the organisers and our fans down under,” said Naushad Rassool, the leader. Flame is one of the most sought-after bands in Colombo and abroad and has been entertaining fans for over two decades at exclusive venues attracting record numbers in participation. "Follow them on the FB Flame fan page and stay updated on the latest happenings " Flame has always been a unique proposition. From their inception in 1989, where three young men performed at the Taj Lobby with just a single guitar and two voices (a radical departure to the then musical aggregations), to the present repertoire spanning folk and country, pop, rock, jazz, funk and Latin rendered by the seven members, they are truly a band with a difference ! Flame won the Golden Clef Award as the Best Folk Band in Sri Lanka in 1994; they were the first band ever to perform live for instant broadcast on Capital Radio; they were a featured act at the launch of SUN FM radio; ITN featured the band in a whole Unplugged program; MTV hosted them on Planet Pulse where they performed live from the studio on the night; Flame performed at most Country Road concerts from inception and also at every Gold FM Retro Night. The work schedule is hectic, playing between 150 and 200 gigs a year. They have been the official band for Lufthansa Airlines, India, touring five times to Delhi (twice), Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. They perform in the Middle East – Qatar, Bahrain and Dubai; New Jersey, USA and Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Australia. Locally Flame performs at select venues to an up market audience. The team has also tied up on CSR with the National Stroke Association of Sri Lanka and will be seen supporting their cause.
