Hot on the heels of its fully packed dual debuts of Batman Vs Superman and Captain America: Civil War, Sri Lanka’s Lifestyle Station E FM extended its superhero run with a premiere of X-Men: Apocalypse, at Colombo’s iconic Savoy 3D cinema on the morning of Saturday, 28 May.
X-Men: Apocalypse is already dominating the global box office and is the latest in the mutant series that first captivated audiences in 2000 with the inaugural X-Men movie – a visual feast for connoisseurs of the modern superhero genre. Interestingly, the 2016 edition of this longstanding fan favourite franchise features many returning A-listers taking on beloved Marvel character roles, including Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and James McAvoy as Professor X.
The new film pits Marvel’s X-Men super mutant team against the very first mutant, Apocalypse, who is thousands of years old and all powerful, in a battle set against the backdrop of 1980’s cold war culture.
The screening of X-Men: Apocalypse was sponsored by COSS Lanka, Stamina and Singapore Airlines and happened to be the latest blockbuster in E FM’s long running A-list premiere series. E FM will continue to offer highly anticipated movies which will premiere over the coming weeks, with special emphasis on big budget Summer 2016 Hollywood Blockbuster movies.
