Top movies this weekend on Hiru TV

An offering of top movies including a blockbuster will be screened this weekend in Hiru TV.

On Friday (26 April) at 10.00 p.m. the Sinhala movie ‘Putha Mage Suraya’ will be telecast under the Hiru Cinema Abhimanaya. Directed by Ranjith Jayasinghe the film’s cast includes Veena Jayakody, Clitus Mendis, Shashee Wijendra, Anusha Sonali, Ananda Wickramage and Manel Wanaguru.

On Saturday at 12 noon under Hiru TV’s lunch time movie series, Sinhala movie ‘Kanyavi’ will be shown. It is directed by B. Sirithunga Perera and music is by Premasiri Kemadasa. Cast in Kanyavi includes Sanath Gunathilake, Meena Kumari, Pubudu Chathurangi, Himali Sayurangi, Sathischandra Edirisinghe, Susila Kottage and Kapila Sigera.

The Tamil blockbuster movie “English Vinglish” will be televised on Saturday at 10.00 p.m. This is an Indian comedy-drama film written and directed by Gauri Shinde. The film revolves around a housewife who enrolls in an English speaking course in order to overcome the embarrassment from her husband and daughter. Sridevi, the lead character, was inspired by Shinde’s mother.  It also marked Sridevi’s comeback to films after a 15-year hiatus. Joining Sridevi in the cast are Mehdi Nebbou, Adil Hussain, Priya Anand and Amitabh Bachchan and Ajith Kumar appeared in guest roles.

On Sunday at 12 noon Hindi movie ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ will be shown. The Indian action film, directed by Kabir Khan. The plot centers around an Indian spy code-named Tiger who falls in love with a Pakistani spy during an investigation and how Tiger’s ideology and principles change over time. Cast includes Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Ranvir Shorey, Girish Karnad, Roshan Seth and Gavie Chahal.
