SLT Mobitel together with Sirasa TV launched Sri Lanka’s first-ever technology based innovation reality TV show ‘Kotiyak Vatina Adahasak’ recently. The program is powered by SLT Mobitel which has conceptualised the program and it is produced and planned to be aired by Sirasa TV for local TV.
The objective of the program is to inspire innovative ideas to address real life challenges through the wonders of technology. All contestants will compete against each other with their innovative ideas to transform the same into viable products and potentially into successful business startups. Each stage of the program will be judged by a panel of judges comprising of industry experts, entrepreneurs and academics across different industries.
In the first stage of the program, all screened and shortlisted applications will be given the opportunity to pitch their innovative product ideas to a panel of judges and there will be a series of auditions where the applicants will be further shortlisted. At the end of the program, the top ranking innovations will be selected and the finalists will receive attractive rewards.
Application submissions for the program were opened on 12 July online. Ideas submitted to the program can be related to any field with a connection to technology and ICT. The innovations can range from a simple tech gadget to a composite solution for a critical issue or something completely novel. Contestants are encouraged to use new technologies like mobile, web, IoT (Internet of Things), big data, electronics, NFC, virtual reality etc., and to come up with innovative products, solutions, systems, platforms, apps etc. Furthermore contestants need to pitch their ideas with a business sense in mind with relation to productisation, marketing and sales.
Another special aspect about the program is that it provides the contestants the opportunity to gain exposure among industry experts, academics, practitioners, entrepreneurs etc. They will also closely engage with program mentors to receive constant guidance and feedback regarding their ideas and innovations while being a part of a reality TV show on national television.
