Join the Power of Play team this Friday, 15 May, for a hands-on, creative ‘Build your own lantern’ workshop in commemoration of Vesak and Poson.
The team of contemporary puppeteers is changing their program agenda this month to bring participants an interactive lantern making workshop that will be a fun, educational and completely entertaining experience for the whole family.
Participants are invited to join Power of Play to celebrate the most colourful time of the year, when lanterns of all shapes, sizes and colours glow on almost every street across our island. Ideal for children between the ages of 6 and 12, the workshop is also open to younger children. Children under six years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (one chaperone per child of six years and younger attends free).
Children will learn how to build the traditional lanterns, and will be encouraged to go beyond the norm to create their own designs. A safe place for trial and error, this workshop is a messy, inventive space to which creativity and individuality are the keys!
All participants require tickets; and pre-registration is available at the venue. Participants are requested to please bring along their own scissors. The workshop will be facilitated in Sinhala with translations in English.
Learn to make your own lanterns on Friday 15 May, at 5:30 p.m. at Cargills Bookcity, 3rd Floor, Majestic City. To register, contact Cargills Book City on 0112593035 or 0773470467.
