The German Embassy in Colombo will sponsor documentary filmmaker Anoma Rajakaruna to attend the 66th Berlinale International Film Festival taking place from 11-12 February in Berlin, Germany.
In the run up to her departure, the German Cultural Centre will show the Berlinale Shorts of 2015 at the Goethe Institute in Colombo. Screened during the Goethe’s weekly film forum on Wednesday, 6 p.m. – the short films will be followed by a discussion on trends in the genre and moderated by Rajakaruna.
Berlinale Shorts is a short film competition judged by an international jury. It is an exploration of cinematic possibilities in the medium of short film.
The Berlinale is a cultural event and one of the most important dates for the international film industry. It is the world’s largest public film festival. Held in cosmopolitan Berlin, a diverse cultural scene, a critical public and an audience of film-lovers characterise the city.
