The ‘CBB Annual Inter School Drama Competition’ will be held this year too during mid-February, with the participation of 16 schools, representing public and international schools.
Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya Galle, Amal International, British School in Colombo, Richmond College and Mahinda College of Galle, Rotary International, Lyceum International Schools of Panadura and Nugegoda, Gateway College of Dehiwala and Rajagiriya; Regent International School, Yoshida Shokandi International School, Stafford International School and Trinity College, Kandy are the schools that will take part in the competition.
The event organised by the Council for Business with Britain in association with the British Council aims to raise funds for an ongoing English Language Teacher Training Program which is conducted by the CBB in partnership with the British Council to help rural schools in Sri Lanka.
As part of the British Council ‘Shakespeare Lives’ Arts Program, CBB together with British Council Sri Lanka offered a dedicated internationally resourced educational workshop in mid-November 2015 for English and drama teachers in Sri Lanka who teach Shakespeare as part of the educational curriculum. While 21 schools took part in the workshop 53 teachers were in attendance.
The annual drama competition also gives an opportunity for the student community to take part in an innovative, creative and stimulating theatrical experience, for a worthy cause.
Preliminary rounds of the competition will be held on 13 February, starting at 9 a.m. at the British School of Colombo while the Finals will be held on 20 February, starting at 6 p.m.
Prizes would be awarded for the ‘Overall Winner’, 1st, 2nd and 3rd runner up, ‘Best Outstation School’ and the Best Director.
