Mind Adventures Theatre Company presents a revival of ‘Blowhards’, written and directed by Arun Welandawe-Prematilleke, (Paraya, Only Soldiers).
Initially staged at the British Council in 2015, these hilarious spoofs feature a number of instantly recognisable characters from Lankan society. Each play showcases the opinionated ‘Blowhards’ among us: armchair activists, politicians, upper-crust housewives, and trust-fund babies, amongst others. Are they actually going to do something about what they like to spout on about or is it just a lot of hot air? All three look at social conventions and our own self-image and how they form our opinions and the stances we take on topical issues, the production lampoons the facile and facetious in us all.
‘Blowhards’ stars Ruvin De Silva, Brandon Ingram, Ryan Holsinger, Thanuja Jayawardene, Leah Bazalgette and two new additions to the cast; Shanuki De Alwis and Tracy Jayasinghe.
The performance is made possible by support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Sunethra Bandaranaike Trust, with media sponsor TNL radio.
Blowhards will take place from 11 to 13 November at 7:30 p.m. at the Namel-Malini Punchi Theatre in Borella. Tickets are priced at Rs. 1,500, Rs. 1,250, Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 600 for the balcony, and are available at the venue, for more details please call (+94) 11 2 672121.
