President Maithripala Sirisena says artistes can play a pivotal role in building a disciplined society rich in moral values and in creating real men among the Lilliputs.
The President made these remarks at the ceremony of State Musical Awards 2015 held at the BMICH on 17 December.
The State Musical Awards ceremony was organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs to honour and encourage musicians in the field and to raise awareness of high-quality music in the society.
The President further said that the Government would fulfil its duty towards the artistes to uplift the musical field as they enrich the nation.
Musicians and artists have been accepted by the world as universal characters; the President said and added that the Government will provide every possible support to create an environment where from prominent artistes as well as junior artistes could conquer the world through their talents and skills.
The President presented awards to the winners. Minister of Cultural Affairs S.B. Navinna, Secretary D. Swarnapala, Department of Cultural Affairs Director General Anusha Gokula, prominent artistes, singers and musicians were present on the occasion.
