Sri Lankan artist becomes finalist in international wildlife art contest

Wildlife artist Tharanga Herath reached finalist stage in Russia’s Golden Turtle 2019 International Art contest, and has been included in the 30 finalists comprising internationally acclaimed artists. Artworks from 1,261 artists worldwide were registered in the competition and all other finalists are from the UK, Germany, France and other European countries, US, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Russia.

The art contest and exhibitions are part of Golden Turtle wildlife festival, which is organised by ‘My Equator’ Charity Social Support Fund. Tharanga’s finalist artwork will be featured along with other finalists’ artworks in exhibitions to be held in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia in autumn 2019.

In 2018 Tharanga’s five original paintings were selected and displayed along with artworks of 28 other artists from Europe and US at Art & Vielfalt – another international wildlife art exhibition held in Germany. This exhibition was organised by the Museum of Natural History in Magdeburg, where the exhibition was held from May to September 2018.
