The second edition of Nights of Reading is an initiative from the French Ministry of Culture that celebrates the pleasure of reading all around the world.
In Sri Lanka, for its second edition, organisers wanted to read aspiring and confirmed authors.
The Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Maldives along with Sarasavi Bookshop Ltd. are presenting the first short story contest to celebrate the upcoming Nights of Reading of the French Ministry of Culture.
The contest is open to all residents of Sri Lanka and the short story can be written in English but should not be exceeded 15,000 characters. It should include the following sentence by French author Victor Hugo ‘Let’s love always! Let’s love again!’ (from Les contemplations). It must not have been published before! You must be responsible for having written the text yourself. Please submit your short stories before 11 January 2022, midnight (IST time) in a .doc or .pdf format to the e-mail address: [email protected].
The winner will be announced on Thursday, 20 January 2022 and at a ceremony which will be held at Sarasavi Bookshop, situated at One Galle Face. Three prizes will be awarded in the form of Sarasavi bookshop gift vouchers. For more details, please visit the Embassy website.
