On 13 December, Korean Ambassador Santhush Woonjin Jeong hosted a dinner party for members of K-fandom groups in Sri Lanka at the Ambassador’s Residence in appreciation of their passion for K-pop and K-culture.
Many youth groups in Sri Lanka promote Korean culture on various platforms due to the increasing popularity of K-pop and K-dramas in Sri Lanka. Ambassador Santhush stated, “In the last few years, the Korean culture has become more popular in the world and in Sri Lanka as well. I have seen your enthusiasm on social media and other media. I see fans of Korean culture as an invisible bridge between Korea and Sri Lanka. You are connecting our two countries with a bridge of friendship and love, and it is a deep and wide bridge that continues to expand with time. All the leaders and members of K-pop clubs, you have contributed to increasing the popularity of hallyu in Sri Lanka. Thank you for your hard work. I really appreciate each and every one of you. You are so precious to Korea and you are so precious to Sri Lanka as well.”
Korean fan groups such as Bangtan Overload, Bulletproof Spinels, Enhypen, ExoL Sri Lanka, K-Pop Sri Lanka Official Fan group, K- Sisters and SHINee Sri Lanka Official Fan group participated in this delightful event. They showcased their talents by performing K-pop dances and songs. The Korean Embassy organised a quiz ‘trivia on Korea’ to entertain the members of K-pop groups as well.
