The Colombo International Theatre festival will take place for the fifth consecutive year from 1 to 6 April.
The inauguration of the festival will take place on 31 March at the BMICH, whereas the event will be held at the British School in Colombo from 7 p.m. onwards from 1 April. Participants from India, Georgia, Italy and Germany will partake in the event and display their talent along with their Sri Lankan counterparts.
Theatre workshops will also be held as a part of the festival, and these will take place at the Indian Cultural Centre, once again from 1 to 6 April from 9:30 a.m. onwards. Several visiting theatre professionals will facilitate these workshops and will speak on diverse topics including how to improvise on stage, creating small society or agreements without using speech and choreographic Drama.
A Theatre Forum will be held from 2 to 4 April at the Goethe Institute as well. It will commence at 10 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. on all three days. The themes of Politics of performance, Experiments and Journeys and Children’s theatre and education will be addressed on each of the three days respectively.
