As a step forward the company is now investing their funds in these biomass projects for steam selling contracts, which in turn frees the client of hassle when investing, operating and maintaining these plants.

PROMET’s Chairman / Managing Director M.A. Justin is a qualified engineer who contributes enormously to making all the projects the company undertakes a great success. The company too has qualified engineers and a non-technical team which helps it to move forward in an easy and rapid pace by satisfying their esteemed clients.

The company also has a mechanical erection team of skilled technicians capable of carrying out any form of fabrication and erection work and also has qualified electrical crews capable of handling any type of electrical installation work including power factor correction and an energy audit to name a few.

PROMET recently obtained the world-renowned ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS) certification.

By obtaining ISO 9001:2008 certification for its QMS from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI), PROMET became the first and only energy services company to receive ISO accreditation.

As part of its future activities PROMET is planning to introduce new technologies in the relevant field such as high efficiency hybrid boilers, wind-solar hybrid small power plants, micro co-generation power plants, tri-generation for green electricity and development of our own firewood plantation.

The company has supplied, installed and commissioned many biomass boilers in last few years, which helps the country to save nearly 50 million litres of imported furnace oil and diesel per annum through these bio-mass projects implemented by PROMET during 2008 to 2015.

Fossil fuels take millions of years to form within the earth and once we use up our reserves of fossil fuels, we will be out in the cold - literally - unless we find other fuel sources because scientists estimate the world will run out of fossil fuels within the next 50 to 120 years.

Therefore whether we like or not it is necessary to look for alternate energy sources, and for thermal energy generation in industries the most viable option is using bio-mass. Organic matter that is used as a source of biomass energy includes trees, timber waste, wood chips, corn, rice hulls, peanut shells, sugar cane, grass cuttings, leaves and part of municipal solid waste, to name a few.

A renewable resource like biomass has the potential to transform Sri Lanka’s energy supply for the better, since this energy source is renewable or will never run out and it can also be produced locally, which can save millions in foreign exchange for our country. In addition, this will support the development plan of our country by generating employment.
