LTL Holdings (LTLH), Sri Lanka’s largest diversified engineering company, recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement to partner with M/s Dragon Emperor Group in Myanmar to enter into the Myanmar power sector.
LTL has been one of Sri Lanka’s most innovative companies, having started off in the early 1980s, primarily building distribution transformers for the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB). Today, almost all Sri Lanka’s distribution transformers are supplied by LTL from their state of the art modern facility complex in Moratuwa, and today LTL exports transformers to over 20 countries all over the world.
Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, and is now involved in the entire value chain of the power sector from generation, to transmission, distribution and to the end consumer.
LTL commissioned the Sri Lanka’s first IPP thermal power station, Heladhanavi, in Puttlam in 2004 and subsequently built Sri Lanka’s first ever first combined cycle 300 MW power plant in Kerawalapitiya, which today delivers uninterrupted and reliable power to the national grid. LTL also operates Sri Lanka’s largest modern galvanising plant at Sapugaskanda equipped with the state-of-the-art machinery.
In the past decade, LTL has expanded its operations to the international arena as well, building Transmission Lines and Substations installations in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Last year, the company commissioned two of its own 50 MW thermal power plants in Bangladesh, operating for 15 years on Build Own Operate (BOO) basis, delivering much needed electricity power to the national grid of Bangladesh.
The company has been exploring further opportunities in the Asian region and is now moving to Myanmar (formally known as Burma), where the scope and potential in the power sector is large with Myanmar being only about 50% electrified as of date.
Having studied the Myanmar market conditions over the past six months, LTL is now proud to partner with M/s Dragon Emperor Group to actively enter the Myanmar power sector.
The Dragon Emperor Group is 100% local-owned Myanmar company and is comprised of various kinds of businesses and subsidiary companies in Myanmar and Singapore. The company commenced its business activities with the large scale infrastructure development projects more than a decade ago. It is today a well-established and professional business leader in the Engineering sector and is now specialised in the fields of power sector, road works and infrastructure development projects.
The Dragon Emperor Group has maintained very high standards of excellence and professionalism, in each of its complementary lines of business.
LTL looks forward to working in close partnership with Dragon Enterprises to establish and grow its business activities in Myanmar.
