SRIKOR Incorporation Sri Lanka together with SAMJIN Company Ltd., introduced a new Human Centric LED Lighting system (HCL) on 9 July while bringing the industry’s revolution to the country.

SRIKOR short for Sri Lanka and Korea commenced several years ago as a family business run by Founder and Managing Director Asoka Wijegunaratne but gradually ventured their services to Maldives, Bangladesh and most recently Zambia.

Wijegunaratne said: “It’s been about 10-12 months since we got together with SAMJIN and we are now doing business while respecting each other’s work ethics and relationship. It is a great pleasure to have the backing of the SAMJIN chairman as he has given his willingness to invest in Sri Lanka.”

“Human Centric Lighting is something new to Sri Lanka as well as the Asian region, although it has been happening in a big way in Canada and America. This is a unique product where the cost is less than half of the European products,” he added.

SAMJIN’s commitment to pursue research-based innovation and environmental sustainability distinguishes them as the market leader in Human Centric Lighting, LED lighting, and lighting control solutions and the company is very excited about their collaboration here in Sri Lanka stated CEO Gyung-Jae Lee.

“SAMJIN is a 32 year old company and provides the best lighting systems focused on human needs. I am very proud of my contribution to the development of the Korean industry as the company provides key components to Samsung,” he said.

The best light for reading and many other purposes is sunlight but this is constantly changing today. HCL hence is built to cater to all of these changes and is capable of altering colour preferable through lighting control technology, emphasised Lee.

HCL is focused on providing quick healing for patients, reduces need for care due to stabilisation of the circadian cycle of older people, maximises work performances within companies, improves visual experience with true to life colour rending and also improves visual comfort.

SAMJIN Director Peter Hyun noted: “Light sources and LEDs have developed over time with high potential. HCL is very similar to natural sunlight. It has a long lifespan accounting up to 10 years and lasts 50 times longer than a conventional light bulb.”

It is also ecologically friendly, has zero UV emissions, is flexible and consists of small capsules or lenses in which tiny chips are placed on heat conducing material making the products extremely efficient and long lasting.

Further, Human Centric Lighting puts focus on both the visual and non-visual effects of the lighting. People need not only light to perform visual tasks, but light is also an important “time-reference” for our internal clock, stressed Hyun.
