Stafford International School recently celebrated a significant milestone, obtaining the greatest number of prizes for one school at the Cambridge International Examinations.
During the 2019 June Cambridge Examinations, Stafford International School received awards for each of the following categories: Top in the World, Top in the Country, High Achievements, Best Across Subjects and other grade-based awards.
Some of these notable achievements are as follows:
At the Cambridge Advanced Subsidiary Level Examination of 2019, Chaneth Senuja Wickramapala was awarded Top in the World for Mathematics. Wickramapala also successfully secured the Top in the Country for Physics and clinched first place in the Best Across 3 Subjects category.
Similarly, Stafford International School Deputy Head Prefect Shan Varna Gunasekara also excelled at the examination, emerging Top in the Country for Business and first place in the Best across 5 Subjects category. He was also awarded the prize for High Achievement for Information Technology.
On being asked about the keys to his success, Shan stated: “I really believe that Stafford was instrumental in helping me achieve these awards.” Under the category of Cambridge Advanced Level 2019, former Senior Prefect Augustin Lia secured four A-Stars.
“I was elated to see those results and see my hard work pay off,” commented Lia.
The juniors too have also been successful in obtaining a multitude of awards at the May 2019 Ordinary Level Examinations. Thusali Amalya Sathkorala secured eight A-Stars and was placed First Place in Best Across 8 Subjects as well as Top in the Country for both Chemistry and Additional Math.
Given the considerably small student population of SIS compared to other international schools, this achievement was indeed a laudable one. The academic endeavours rendered by the students of SIS and their exemplary performance at the Cambridge International Examinations was the result of a conscientious, well-qualified academic staff which worked tirelessly to make this result attainable.
