The past 24 months have been something right out of a fairy-tale for ICON Business School, which fast became the leading provider of ACCA studies in Sri Lanka. So immense is the growth, the management now entertain thoughts, and are well on the way to acquiring the ultimate recognition by ACCA Global, in the form of becoming an ultra-elusive Platinum Partner for ACCA in Sri Lanka.

Such a move in itself would almost certainly solidify ICON as a quality centric, world beating HUB for ACCA in Colombo, Sri Lanka and all across the world. Not satisfied by this achievement, however, the hunger for excellence has now stretched beyond the realm of ACCA as the management of ICON now set their sights on the quintessential Mount Olympus of Professional Finance Qualifications, as they hope to launch and deliver in full, tutoring for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Qualification.

CFA since its inception has always been viewed as the most sought-after designation for investment professionals and historically has not produced large volumes of Graduates annually, though the demand for the qualification is very much present, when compared to other Professional Qualifications prevalent in the country.

In short, CFA has generally been viewed at as a tedious, challenging but a rewarding qualification. The curriculum for each level is designed to test a broad array of skills, relevant for investment professionals, touching on but not limited to areas such as Ethics and Professional Standards, Quantitative Methods, Economics, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management, Equity Investments, Fixed Income, Derivatives, and Alternative Investments.

When asked to comment on the recent decision to launch CFA tutoring, the Management of ICON Business School had this to say: “ICON business School has always been driven to set the bar high, this too for the sole reason to be the best delivery centre across all professional financial programs in the country. This single-minded determination has been the cornerstone of our success and has put us right on track to stamp our authority as the go-to institute for ACCA in the Island.

“The culmination of our success has seen us grow from strength to strength now moving to a new location complimented with a vast array of state of the art virtual learning platforms, globally recognized superior library and exam services and last but certainly not least, the acquiring of arguably the most comprehensive and distinguished presence of the most sought after corporate and academic financial lecturing gurus from the echelon of Sri Lanka’s financial lecturing elite.

“CFA is yet another qualification that is generally seen as the pinnacle of professional excellence for finance and invest professionals a like. CFA is traditionally seen as a challenging qualification, however, ICON along with our stellar panel of experts and world class resources strongly believe we can change that perception and provide the necessary impetus to not only cater the imminent demand, but also increase the numbers of CFA Charter holders that walk out of our doors. We are truly humbled and excited for the future of ICON, and are confident we can establish ourselves as the premier centre for the CFA program and establish ICON as the designated Financial Study Hub in Sri Lanka.”

ICON is set to launch its inaugural batch for CFA this January, and is fast accepting applications for the CFA level I classes. All interested students are encouraged to visit No. 19, Deal Place, Colombo 3, www.icon.edu.lk inquire on 077 055 2555 or email [email protected].
