2019 14th milestone: The official launch for the expo was held at The Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo on the 19 March with the participation of IFC Sri Lanka and Maldives Country Manager Amena Arif as the Chief Guest and Dunya Maymoon, the former Foreign Minister of Maldives and daughter of the former President of Maldives Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
Amena speaking on education stressed on the importance of having a quality education system in the island, adding that it also mattered in inclusive sustainable growth of a country’s economy.
Making a note on the 14th edition theme ‘Augmenting the Global Village of Higher Education,’ Dunya invited the Future Minds expo to Maldives as the first step as a global expo experience.
The Colombo edition was conducted at BMICH and the Kandy edition was held at KCC with record-breaking participation for the last 14 years.
The Galle exhibition hosted around 45 institutions with close to 60 stalls of higher educational institutes including universities from countries such as the UK, Australia, Singapore, USA, Malaysia, New Zealand, India and more.
A wide section of students benefited from Galle exposition in the forum of career guidance, information on various higher education pathways and financial assistance for various degrees and courses.
Southern students’ benefit: It is a known fact that the Southern Province produces high rankers in the Advanced Level examinations. However Galle and the Southern Province as a whole are restricted in access to resources for career planning. Future Minds fills this gap and brings a synergetic forum to the southern capital.
Counselling and career guidance: Future Minds extended this value addition to Galle which was successfully implemented in the last few years in Colombo and Kandy.
This counselling and career guidance project was organised with the collaboration of SL Counselling Association. Further well reputed Government recognised and professionally certified resources personnel were available to discuss future career paths.
