Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) – a vital body of ICT Industry, in association with ACCA Sri Lanka is hosting a webinar on ‘Accelerating Digital Education in the Digital Normal’ on Saturday, 13 June 4pm onwards, Sri Lankan time.
The webinar will be presented by Prof. Sampath Amarathunga, University Grants Commission Chairman Prof. Gihan Dias, FITIS Vice Chairman and University of Moratuwa Professor Dr. Malitha Wijeyasundara, SLIIT Faculty of Humanities & Science Dean Dr. Kithsiri Manchanayake, AIMS Group of Company Chairman and ACCA MESA regional Head of Education Mr. Rehan Uddin, moderated by FITIS Immediate Past President Education & Training Chapter Director/ School of Foreign Trade & Export Strategy CEO Upul Dassanayake of. The webinar will be targeted to academics, parents and students who are pursuing higher & secondary level studies and professional programmes (both locally and internationally). As the COVID-19 disease outbreak spread, the number of countries that started closing schools and universities increased rapidly.
As digital transformation accelerates, the need for talent and tools to make it happen increases, and tools require training. There is also a clear need to get people trained in these many areas where we’re now seeing more online solutions being used, such as telework. This webinar will mainly deliberate on how to accelerate education by building remote or online learning programmes and how currently educational institutions managing the crisis in Sri Lanka. The webinar is to open a discussion about the educational policy of the government and future direction in the digital normal, solutions and digital infrastructure needed for the future digital learning and security aspects of digital education, online education from global perspective, learning lessons from international digital education systems, challenges of digital education and how digital education can be used to improve skills of students and effectiveness and quality of digital education.
