Christmas is the season where everyone gives thanks for the food they eat, the families they have and the friends they treasure. It is also the time of year when all of the above are joined together to complete the good times and make memories for the coming year.
In keeping with the spirit of Christmas, The Kingsbury Hotel has rolled out the red carpet with an incredible spread of decadence and indulgence in all of our restaurants. From Christmas goodies at the Gingerbread House to the Festive High Teas, it has made it very, very special.

But no day is more special and evocative than Christmas Eve. This is the day when hearts are filled with warmth as families gather closer. And what better time and place than around a dinner table.
To celebrate this special occasion, The Kingsbury Christmas Lunch and Dinner buffets on 24 and 25 December at the Harbour Court cannot be more perfect. Designed to evoke warm family sentiments, it welcomes you to share in its joy with all loved ones and enjoy a masterpiece menu created by Executive Chef Kithsiri De Silva that is now known as the ‘longest buffet’ in town.
The main course comprises 24 different food items including the chef’s festive rice, Pembroke shire turkey stroganoff, braised short ribs with currant jelly madeira and caramelised shallot polenta, homemade spinach and artichoke ravioli and seafood with cibi vodka cream sauce, pan fried salmon marinated in basil, garlic and bed of chunky roast ratatouille, roasted honey and beacon Brussels sprouts and wok fried hot chillie garlic fish raw.
For all visitors from overseas who are craving for some delicious authentic cuisine, it has laid out a Sri Lankan section with chicken black curry, cadju curry, pineapple curry, beans and mustard tempered thumbakarawila musuwa, brinjal and sprats pahie, potato baduma and of course the ubiquitous fish cutlets and handallas.
Pasta lovers can enjoy the pasta action stations with many kinds of pasta; maccheroni, fusilli, farfalle, spaghetti, linguine, and penne with delicious sauces like cheese sauce, beef Bolognese, chicken Bolognese, Napolitana sauce, seafood marinara, and alfredo sauce.
The ‘Under the Lamp’ selection has oven roasted rosemary rub turkey with steamed baked turkey stuffed fresh chestnut, roasted leg of Australian lamb, honey glazed gammon ham with vanilla pineapple sauce and roasted beef leg with pepper sauce. Indulge in seven different types of grilled meat.
For those who fancy Indian cuisine, then a vast array of continental breads and vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes is on offer. The hotel has murgh kalimiri, reshmi kebab and kasturi kebab, tandoori prawns, mahi tikka, lamb chop sikandari, rangeela mutton seekh, tandoori khumb sabzi and pomfret, murgh tikka,tandoori burrawan tangdi and an assortment of naans, purees and paratas to delight diners.
Remember, all of these come with some innovative accompaniments and garnishes!
Last but not least, the dessert corner has 35 different mouth-watering, desserts that will leave diners absolutely amazed. This is truly a ‘seeing is believing’ experience! There’s also a complimentary glass of sparkling wine, beer or favourite cocktail.
For a more intimate setting book early at Yue Chuan (authentic Chinese and Sri Lankan/Chinese Fusion menus) or The Ocean Seafood Restaurant. One of its specialties is a collection of the freshest ‘cold water’ fish comprising Atlantic king crab, Dutch mussels, Canadian lobster, Cray fish, Japanese Hamachi fillet or yellow tail, cod, lemon sole, Norwegian smoked creole salmon and haddock. And this is just the fish.
Those celebrating the season with family and friends are welcome to a special festive brunch at the Harbour Court on 13, 20 and 27 December. The buffet, known as the ‘longest buffet in town’, will feature a quintessential royal feast that will leave diners completely sated.
