Taj Samudra will be hosting a ‘Hyderabad Biryani Fest’ at the Navratna Restaurant from 21-30 August during lunch (12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.) and dinner (7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.). Renowned Chef Jahangir Khan of Taj Krishna Hyderabad will be especially flown down for this festival to entice the guests with the exquisite cuisine and warm hospitality of the ‘Lion City’ or more appropriately the ‘City of Pearls’.
Traditional Hyderabadi cuisine comprises a broad repertoire of rice, wheat and meat dishes and the skilled use of various spices. Hyderabadi biryani and Hyderabadi haleem, with their blend of Mughlai and Arab cuisines, have become iconic dishes of India. During this festival, Chef Jahangir Khan will be using the finest fresh ingredients to create an exquisite menu that combines healthy eating with vibrant flavours, bringing along native ingredients to serve the most authentic dishes to all Hyderabadi food lovers.
The vast variety of items on the menu leave a food connoisseur spoilt for choice as it consists of the famous biryanis like Hyderabadi Kachche Gosht Ki Biryani a classic from the heritage menu of Nizam, Murg Zaffrani Biryani and Hyderabadi Subz Biryani, kebabs like Tali Machli, Pathar – ka – gosht and Shikampur Kebabs, Dum ka Paneers, Nalli Gosht, the Kormas, popular Haleem and much more, with a tantalising array of desserts, such as Double Ka Meetha (golden fried bread soaked in saffron flavoured milk), Khubani Ka Meetha (stewed apricot served with cold cream) and Gil – E-Firdaus to name a few.
Chef Jahangir hails from a distinguished family, reputed for their expertise in the culinary field. His father was a traditional Master Chef who specialised in Indian curries and had a vast experience working in Bangalore, Kolkata and even abroad in the Middle East. Chef Jahangir followed his father’s footsteps by foraying into the hotel industry as he acquired his cooking skills at a tender age. He has been with Taj Krishna in Hyderabad since 2003. During his tenure at Taj Krishna, he mastered the art of local Hyderabadi specialties. Taj Samdra’s Navaratna Restaurant is famed for its skilful team of Indian chefs who have honed the art of blending the finest of spices and unique cooking techniques to bring together truly authentic Indian delights. The ambience is primarily Indian, with the soothing strains of the sitar playing in the background making you literally feel a part of this unique culture. The restaurant can seat up to 84 persons and operates for lunch as well as dinner.
