Pegasus Reef unveils elaborate plans for festive season

Pegasus Reef Hotel Wattala announced elaborate plans for the forthcoming Christmas and New Year festive season. This coincided with its traditional annual ‘Mixing of the Christmas Cake Ceremony’ which was attended by hotel guests, well-wishers and the media. Veteran hotelier and Director of the Pegasus Reef Hotel Paddy Withana said, “Christmas in this part of Sri Lanka is very festive and very grand. We have thus made grand and detailed plans to make this year’s festive season our best ever.” Director Paddy Withana (centre)   The festive atmosphere will be all present at Pegasus Reef hotel as December arrives. Activities get into full swing on Saturday 20 December when the X’mas Goodies Hut opens its doors. Exuding that unmistakable aroma of Christmas it will have a variety of festive goodies such as Christmas cake, Yule Log, Breudher, Roast Turkey, Christmas cookies and more. On 24 December the hotel’s popular Lounge Bar hosts Carols followed by a Christmas Eve Dinner Buffet in the main restaurant. The focal point on 25 December will be the Christmas Lunch Buffet in the main restaurant with beach dining at night at the Chef’s Table on the Sands. Pegasus Reef Hotel says Goodbye to 2014 with a farewell cocktail in the Lounge Bar followed by a gala New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance with Rajiv and the Clan in attendance. Among the highlights of the night will be the crowning of the ‘Pegasus Queen’ and a spectacular fireworks display at midnight. A few hours later on 1 January 2015, the hotel formally commences operations in the brand new year with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp followed by a celebratory brunch. Speaking to the media, Director Paddy Withana said that the hotel will soon commence construction work on its new offering – a Seafood Restaurant and Bar – on the beach area where guests can select their choice and have it cooked right there. “The restaurant will accommodate 60 pax under the shelter and another 40 pax in the open air, totalling 100 diners and will be ready for operations by the middle of January 2015,” Withana said. Plans are also underway to completely refurbish the lobby area. This includes the floor, new furniture and fittings, new lighting, a new reception counter etc. The Lobby Bar will also be changed with a new design and furniture, and extended towards the open area so that guests could enjoy their drink and spend a memorable evening. Parallely the car park will be converted to a ‘garden car park’ with a three-tier ramp. The existing porch will be extended up to the car park thereby making access easier. Located to the shoreline north of Colombo and literally overlooking the Harbour, Pegasus Reef Hotel is a location of beauty and serenity, typical of the charm of Sri Lanka’s sun kissed beaches.
