International fast food giant Burger King has opened its latest restaurant at the Departure Hall of the Bandaranaike International Airport, providing a much-needed boost to the airport’s dining options. With friendly, casual surroundings and great tasting food, customers can now enjoy Burger King’s world famous flame grilled burgers while they are waiting for their flights. The restaurant will be open 24 hours a day in time for passengers flying out on the first flight of the day, and will stay open until the very last flight creating a dining experience for travellers featuring recognisable fast food favourites at affordable prices. Burger King is managed exclusively by master franchisee Softlogic Restaurants Ltd; a subsidiary of Softlogic Holdings PLC, and has received a positive response from customers in Sri Lanka with a total of six restaurants including branches in Arcade Independence Square, Mount Lavinia, Rajagiriya, Colpetty, Kandy City Centre, and The Central Hospital Food Court being opened since its successful entry into the local market in late 2013. The fast food favourite which bills itself as the ‘Home of the Whopper’ grills rather than fries its patties for an exceptionally rich and clean flavour which burger-lovers adore. Travellers dining at Burger King can choose from a deliciously diverse menu featuring not only world-renowned products like the Whopper but also more localised menu items such as the flavourful King Rice to satisfy the cravings of the Sri Lankan palette. While the signature fire-grilled Whoppers are the foundation of Burger King, the menu offers something for everyone including new twists on the classic burger such as the cult favourite, the Chicken Royale and the fantastically crunchy Spicy Chicken Burger. Early morning travellers can wake up their taste buds with a hearty breakfast meal from Burger King’s delicious breakfast menu. The breakfast menu retains the flavours of the original menu but includes tasty breakfast versions of popular Burger King items such as the Egg and Cheese Burger, Sausage Burger, Cheese and Tomato Burger, Chilli Cheese Chicken Burger and the Sausage and Egg Burger. For travellers on-the-go, Burger King’s freshly-made hot and cold beverage options include premium roast Lavazza coffee that can be ordered as a Cappuccino, Americano, Esparano or a Café Latte and delivers a rich, gourmet flavour typical of a perfect cup of coffee. Alternative drink offerings of Milo, hot, chocolate, milkshakes and soft drinks also pair perfectly with Burger King’s exceptional menu offerings. With a passion for great tasting food and something on the menu to appeal to every diner, Burger King’s move to enhance the dining landscape at BIA is likely to encourage a slew of restaurants to enter the scene, hopefully inspiring a sensational food and beverage offering at BIA to rival any airport in the world.
