German cuisine is as unique as any other on the global culinary platter and for an increasingly cosmopolitan nation like Sri Lanka the introduction of an authentic German restaurant serving traditional Bavarian food and drink is an absolute necessity.
Situated as part of Boardwalk within Waters Edge, the Bavarian Garden boasts of a unique environment at the edge of the lake, inclusive of some of the most breathtaking sunsets and serene ambience. Perfectly laid out for large groups, families and complete with intimate settings for the romantics, the venue promises something special for everyone.
What makes it even more unique is that the cuisine is all about comfort food and drink straight from the home of the Oktoberfest. Bavarian cuisine includes many world renowned favourites such as obatza, a creamy cheese dip, fleshly baked crusty pretzels, delicious sauerkraut and succulent frankfurters all of which can be enjoyed in generous portions at the Bavarian Garden.
To wash it all down is an array of beverages inclusive of a range of concoctions prepared with a German specialty base
Spearheading this operation is head chef of the restaurant; chef Kumar and the restaurant manager Sepa. Together the duo brings extensive years of international and local hospitality experience and skill contributing towards the growing popularity of the Bavarian Garden
Perhaps the winning factor for the restaurant is the service standards and staff who are all dressed in traditional German attire complete with braces and Alpine hats. Many guests keep returning not just for the food but also for the personalised service offered by Restaurant Manager Sepa and his team. Sepa is an enigma with a story to tell all customers who are willing to listen.
The staff also enjoys explaining how the food is traditionally prepared, the history behind it with recommendations on what to order. This coupled with a great atmosphere surrounded by the great outdoors is surely making Bavarian Garden a must-visit.
Every first Tuesday of the month the restaurant stages a special Bavarian Night where all stops are pulled out for a hearty Bavarian buffet served from 7:30-10:30pm. For more information and to make reservations at the Bavarian Garden, please contact Sepa on 0112 863863.
