On 10 April, The Soup Bowl (TSB) charity will host their fundraiser event for their three projects. The event will see a variety ofperformers picking up the mic for a good cause.
The Open Mic will feature names like Monique W, Kusal Bandaranayake with his bandGravity, Darren Stork & Jo Perera, Shifani & Riyal with their band Jaadiyata Moodiya, DineshHirdaramani, Kanishka Kavirathna, Jesh Arulrajah, and Sachinthana Amarasena.
In addition to a star-studded line-up of performances you will be able to enjoy the great foodand great ambience at The Cauldron, the official venue for the fundraiser. Tickets are priced at anominal fee of Rs. 500, also available at the entrance.
Every month, TSB visits a home with a meal. The group designs an activity depending on theage and group, taking along games, décor, and a group of volunteers. The activitiesconducted centre around creating a sense of self‐importance and participation, such asartwork, singing, and dancing for the elderly, and dancing, singing, face‐painting, anddressing up, for kids.
On a weekly basis, The Soup Bowl provides a wholesome and nutritious lunch at the DropIn centre. This happens every Friday at the Scott Hall of the Kollupitiya Methodist church.
The Drop In centre hosts 125 + economically challenged people living and working in andaround Colombo 3. The Drop In centre sees people from varied backgrounds from streetpeople, to lottery sellers, to those who do labour work in the Kollupitiya market, toconstruction workers, to people living in poverty-ridden neighbourhoods, to the elderly whoare retired and have no form of income or family, to elderly security personnel working inthe offices close to the Kollupitiya Methodist church.
On a daily basis, We Give Stuff Away (WGSA) rescues surplus vegetables, fruits, and non-perishable food items to deliver it to underprivileged families, and elders’ and children’s homes.
The Soup Bowl (TSB) is a privately owned hospitality ministry established in January 2014to meet a basic need: the provision of a nutritious meal to the less fortunate. To date, thecharity has served over 2000 home‐made, nutritious meals to street people, orphans, andthe elderly in and around Colombo. Its mission however is not limited to a meal.
