Commons Coffee House, the first homegrown coffee house in Colombo launched 14 years ago, is celebrating the cultural diversity and the unique cuisine of Sri Lanka by promoting its range of kottu, roti, hoppers and a truly Sri Lankan brand of coffee.
The local favorite kottu offers a choice of sausage, bacon and egg kottu, fish noodle kottu, cuttle fish demon chilli (kochchi) stringhopper kottu, and tandoori chicken stringhopper kottu, to name a few. The hopper selection offers egg and plain hoppers and also milk and pani (honey) hoppers. Commons’ extensive range of roti features plain and cheese roti with chicken, teriyaki beef, seeni sambol and many more fillings along with the sweet roti range.
Sri Lanka continues to be the hotspot for tourists, as noted in renowned international travel magazines as the No. 1 choice offering a diversity of experiences which includes its rich cuisine. “As for the No. 1 pick, it ups the ante with elephants, leopards, and an excellent cup of tea.” (Travel & Leisure magazine July 2019) The Lonely Planet, the go-to for travel information, continues to give credit to Sri Lanka as the No. 1 destination for 2019.
In recognition and appreciation of the international accolades for our island, Commons is highlighting the truly Sri Lankan flavours and spices in its menu with the Commons popular kottu roti range, the pol roti and the all- time favourite roti with fillings – also unique to Commons. The hoppers accompanied with spicy local curries and a truly Sri Lankan brand of coffees are also part of the local favourites.
