Receiving the award for ‘Most Outstanding Deep Down South Culinary Team’
Gold medal winners from Citrus Resorts & Hotels
Citrus Resorts & Hotels, one of Sri Lanka’s most-sought-after hotel chains, recently bagged multiple accolades and the prestigious title of the ‘Most Outstanding Down South Culinary Team’ at Southeast Asia’s largest food and hospitality show, the Culinary Art Food Expo 2019.
Organised by the Chefs Guild of Sri Lanka together with the World Association of Chefs Societies, this culinary event took place from 21-23 October at the BMICH.
Competing against a large pool of contenders, a squad of gifted chefs and F&B teams from Citrus Waskaduwa, Citrus Hikkaduwa, and The Steaurt by Citrus were bestowed awards of all three classes; with nine Gold, 12 Silver, 16 Bronze medals, and an award for the ‘Most Outstanding Creative Coffee Cocktail’ falling under the Citrus name. Displaying their evident culinary expertise, Citrus Resorts & Hotels also clinched the admired title of ‘Most Outstanding Deep Down South Culinary Team’ for the year 2019.
The 19th edition of the Culinary Art Food Expo held a participation of over 3,000 chefs, both locally and regionally. Contestants were judged by a panel of over 30 esteemed foreign and local culinary judges on the basis of creativity, hygiene, taste, texture, and appearance. Award winners were chosen by proving their capabilities of meeting the standards of the world’s most modern kitchens, along with the appeal of the five senses and echelons of knowledge, extraordinary technique, and versatility.
Extending over all aspects of food products and services covering culinary, hospitality and retail segments, the Culinary Art Food Expo acts as a comprehensive trade platform for exhibitors from different regions of the world, promoting young chefs to showcase their masterly skills and obtain international titles.
