Ceylon Hotel School Graduates’ Association (CHSGA) organised the ‘Gastronomy Voyage’ a great culinary experience at the SLITHM School, Kandy to inspire students, faculty and the industry. The event was yet another project spearheaded by the CHSGA headed by President Priyal Perera. The event was executed by the Organising Committee Chairman Patrick Perera, Vice President of CHSGA, along with his team, supported by eminent culinary experts from the industry.
The event was held with some of the country’s prominent five-star chefs to share the stories behind their illustrious careers, while leading a demonstration of one of their signature recipes, sharing their techniques and giving the students a memorable culinary experience for the day’s dinner. Chefs led by culinary expert Chef Rohan Fernandopulle, who is also the General Manager of Cinnamon Lakeside, highlighted their approaches to food and respective styles in an intimate setting conducive to career-inspiring interaction with the students, making themselves available to the next generation of great chefs.
Chef Fernandopulle shared his valuable experience, expertise and he was a great inspiration to all upcoming chefs. He further stated that chefs must go beyond their culinary skills and become top management material in the industry.
“CHSGA is always looking to enhance its programs and bring unique resources and experiences to SLITHM students and the hospitality sector,” said CHSGA President Priyal Perera. “The culinary mastery and artistry these chefs demonstrate will no doubt be inspirational to our diploma program students as they move forward in their studies and careers.”
“Culinary greats have the potential to shape students and young chefs’ future careers. The success reached by those at the highest level can be an inspiration to those at the beginning of their culinary journeys. Here chefs had the opportunity to personally identify with the students and influence them in one of the most formative periods of their lives,” said CHSGA Vice President Patrick Perera.
The Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association (CHSGA), established in 1971 (incorporated by the Parliament Act No: 21 of 1984), takes pride in being the pioneering Hospitality Professional Association in SL.
