Food, like literature, is meant to be savoured and has the amazing ability to nourish the soul. Similarly, throughout history and literature, feasts and the act of sitting down to a meal are established to be a means of unifying individuals and fostering good will.
In the same spirit of nourishment, unification and good will, Unilever Foods, a Gold Partner for the Fairway Galle Literary Festival 2018 put on their best food showcase via the Knorr Biryani Festival. The biryani festival, that took place between 25 to 27 January as the Fairway Galle Literary Festival simmered deliciously in the backdrop, was a refreshing display of colour, jubilation and coming together as invoked by a hearty biryani. Festival goers were able to savour the rich notes of authentic and scrumptious biryanis made using the Knorr Chef’s Special Biryani Mix as they sat down together between the courses of the literary proceedings to satisfy their palates and reawaken their senses.
Attendees were able to select from four aromatic biryani variants of Paneer, Prawn, Chicken and Mutton, all scintillatingly served up in traditional clay pots. Aaliyah Mohamed, a food enthusiast at the event said, “The four biryani flavours were delicious and it was a great tasting experience. Each of the biryanis tasted distinct and the Knorr Biryani Mix worked well to bring out those flavours.”
While a book cannot truly be judged by its cover, the enticing display of fried onions, curry leaves, boiled eggs and mint sambol that sat deliciously over the perfectly hued biryani claimed otherwise. The Knorr biryani experience also paired their soul-satisfying biryanis with a zesty lime beverage and a serving of the biryani go-to dessert – watalappan. Just as the biryani evoked prose, the festive lounge set up for the event opposite the Hall De Galle was a riot of colour and set the right tone by way of relaxing music enticing passers-by with its celebratory and refreshing atmosphere.
Knorr Senior Brand Manager Bianca De Silva noted, “We have seen such happy faces at Knorr Biryani Festival lounge. The overall experience of sitting back to a delicious biryani meal amidst the exciting and refreshing atmosphere of the ongoing literary feast resonated well with the crowds. The festival attendees were also delighted to know that they could create the same restaurant quality biryanis themselves within the comfort of their homes, by simply incorporating the Knorr Biryani Mix.”
The Knorr Chef’s Special Mix range is a result of careful crafting by expert Knorr Chefs without added MSG, no artificial flavours, colours and preservatives. The Knorr Chef’s Special variants include Biryani, Nasi Goreng, Devilled and Chicken Curry. The Biryani Mix contains a variety of spices such as Nutmeg, Coriander, Cinnamon, Mace, Lemon Grass, Black Pepper, Clove, Cardamom, Cumin, Turmeric, and Bay leaf.
